Clothing Week: Marie Southard Ospina

Clothing Week: Marie Southard Ospina

Journalist Marie Southard Ospina lives with a friend and two children in Yorkshire, England. But rural life does not change Marie’s style boldly. “I love the glamorous things that live in Yorkshire gray,” he says. Here are five of her favorite clothes…

Clothing: No Baby.

“Five years ago, when we were expecting our first child, my friend and I decided to move to England, where she was raised. Hebden Bridge is a beautiful rural setting, known for being one of Britain’s largest capitals (we are all fools, so it was important for us). When it comes to fashion, I love clothes that are stylish and romantic and beautiful. These are words I have not been associated with for a long time, due to my physical appearance and poor stigma. Now, however, I like to confuse the ‘rules’ obese women should follow – and turn them on their head. When I wear pieces like that, even if they are soft, I feel much stronger. ”

Sweater: Hand-made by Marie’s mother-in-law. Curved shirt: Monki, similar. Skirt: Gaudy x Miggs (a capsule collection made by Marie!). Difficulty: Difficult. Shoes: Grünbein.

“This coat is one of the things my mother-in-law created. She is very talented and got into the habit of making me a sweater every year. I find it hard to find clothes that are too big – like real, big knits – so I’m lucky she wants to make them! I would love to learn to knit on my own, but my daughters are still young. Maybe when they are all in school, I will get to know them better. ”

Rings: vine, the same.

“When the children were younger, I stopped wearing earrings because they were so tight. Now that we are out of the group, I am happy to get used to the earrings. Fun – like this one – can make the whole scene more popular. “

T-shirt: old, same. Lamba: ASOS Curve, same. pants: ASOS Curve, parallel. Socks: Seasalt Cornwall. Shoes: ASOS Design. Beanie: “I believe that it was my husband years ago, but now it is mine!” Ring: Monk. Bag: civilized, uniform.

“I dyed my green hair this summer. I love my brown shade, but from time to time, I have a passion for fun. I hadn’t done anything on my hair since the plague, so I thought I’d just go! When I run in the morning, I try to run to school, I can just wear a beanie and still be pretty. ”

Blue face print: Shein. Sweater outfit: Just sitting. Skirt: Lindy Bop, same. Difficulty: Difficult. Shoes: Footsteps. Rings: vine, the same.

“I’ve had this skirt for many years, and I come back every summer. It was a thick fur skirt that I found in Lindy Bop, a beloved British rockabilly-inspired shop, which unfortunately did not survive the plague. I paired it with these coats, because I have to have a different color, but I put it on with a stylish vest because I can’t stand the cold.

“In Yorkshire, you have to prepare the mud. I’ve been in love with shoes ever since I moved here. I’m a very wide-legged calf with a calf, and I’ve found Simply Be to be the ultimate bet on fashion shoes. For rain boots, I love The Wide Welly Company. They have many designs – like octopus and flowers and a rainbow. “

Dress: eShakti (which allows customization: “I changed the settings to make it more comfortable in the autumn / winter season”). Difficulty: Difficult. Shoes: Marks & Spencer, similar. Beret: proud, equal. Rings: high, uniform. Bag: “My mother in the 80s.”

“I feel like a wonderful mother who dropped out of school, but I want my children to feel comfortable talking about their feelings. I lead by example. “

Thank you so much, Marie!

PS Several weeks of clothing, including one from Afrofuturist and another from restaurant owners in Brooklyn.
